Let’s Go Camping!
By Pastor George Van Alstine

ABC is going green. The entryway, the sanctuary and the downstairs hall are all being transformed into an unspoiled woodland environment by a group of enthusiastic young artists. All of this is happening because Vacation Bible School will begin next Monday, June 22, and this year’s theme is “Son Rock Kids Camp.”

Children of elementary and middle school age will gather daily around the campfire to learn about the Lord Jesus. Under the theme Bible verse, “How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God” (John 3:1), the campers will hear about five important gospel truths:

Accepted by Jesus
Protected by
Jesus
Saved by Jesus
Forgiven by Jesus
Living for Jesus

These positive messages will be taught through Bible lessons, creative crafts, parables from nature, and joyful music, by a loving staff of ABC’s adults and youth.

A fast-moving daily schedule will be followed Monday through Friday, between 9:00 AM and 12:30 PM. Registration will begin at 8:00 AM Monday, and children should arrive each morning by 8:45 AM. The cost for the whole week will be $15 for the first child in a family, and $10 for each additional child. This covers craft supplies, take-home materials and mid-morning snacks.

Over the years, Vacation Bible School has proven to be one of ABC’s most important neighborhood connections. Young people often “graduate” from being students to being leaders. Some VBS families have found their way into the church, and some young people mark a childhood VBS week as the beginning of their spiritual awareness. It’s not uncommon for a VBS “alum” to stop by and say Hi.

Call today to pre-register you children, and also encourage kids in your neighborhood to attend. Plan to attend the exciting closing program on Friday evening, June 26. And please pray for the campers at “Son Rock Kids Camp” all next week.
