The Bad Weather Shelter provides housing for the homeless in our midst during the coldest and wettest weather. Since the shelter opened its doors, more than 25 years ago, ABC has helped staff the shelter as an act of Christ’s love to our community. Our volunteer service starts again on December 6th and about every other Sunday thereafter, through end of February. We are looking for:

  • Volunteers each Sunday we are scheduled. The hours are from 6:00 – 9:00 PM. Volunteers help cook food, assist with intake, and set up cots and blankets for the guests. A sign up is placed in the church foyer.
  • Meal Organizer (to prep and shop for meals—we serve between 100 and 180 depending on the Sunday).
  • We have found that a turkey provides plenty of meat for the least cost per pound! Please consider donating a turkey this holiday season.

If you can help in any of these ways, or more information, contact

Pastor Connie at 626-797-8970, or Paula McCall, our coordinator.

This year the Bad Weather Shelter will be weather-activated all season long.

Our dates for volunteering are:

Dec. 6 and 20; Jan. 3, 17, and 31; Feb. 14 and 28.

Please consider helping in this emergency shelter for the homeless for our area.
